The Requirement.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force’s new fleet of Boeing P8 Poseidon aircraft required a digital solution that would take the man-hours and complexity out of their training analysis and design needs. Aligned to the UK’s Royal Air Force, training for the P8 Poseidon Force had to meet the stringent compliance standards of the Systems Approach to Training process. The process is designed to promote coherence, standardisation and quality of training across the Armed Forces which it does very well, and when paired with the right technology (such as Aquila Learning’s ALaRMS Application) huge efficiencies can be achieved.

With efficiency, ease of use and connectivity being key requirements, Beca required a digital solution that would bring innovation and automation to their training commitments.

The Solution.

Based on Royal Air Force (RAF) and United States Navy training material, Beca teamed with Copernicus Technology Limited (UK), Aquila Learning (UK), and Catalyst Cloud (NZ) to deliver a next generation training solution.

As a long term Aquila Learning Partner, Copernicus Technology Limited brought their experience of developing RAF P-8A training courses using the Aquila ALaRMS System. Catalyst Cloud provided the sovereign hosting solution for the training development environment.

With ALaRMS, the team were able to create a unique turnkey solution for the RNZAF by leveraging all the training analysis and design work completed for the RAF in previous years. Ready built and read to go via ALaRMS technology. ALaRMS now offers the RNZAF a complete training management capability (from Analysis and Design to Delivery and Assurance) through-life.

Business Director – Major Programmes, at Beca Applied Technologies, Brian Fearnley, states that, “We are delighted to continue our support of NZDF Air Surveillance Reconnaissance Force capability. Following a 15-year association in the upgrade and support of the recently retired P-3K2 Orion, Beca are again engaged in a critical support and enabling role for the newly acquired RNZAF P-8A Poseidon fleet.”

Beca and Aquila Learning are proud to be supporting the Manatū Kaupapa Waonga – Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force to bring the RNZAF P-8A Poseidon capability into service.

ALaRMS™ has created a reported 75% saving in time to conduct complex role analysis and training analysis.*
